One of the questions I get asked the most when it comes to nutrition is: What are the best nutritious snacks for on the go?
This is a very broad question because there are absolutely endless lists of snack recipes that I could show you that would nourish your body, make you feel great and that would taste absolutely amazing. The problem is a large percentage of those recipes take a bit of time and effort, which when you can’t find five minutes for yourself results in a firm no to snack prepping and a tendency to reach for something that isn’t as nourishing or filling.
If you want a snack to just grab and go then look no further than the nutritious Flaxseed cracker! Prep time is 5 mins and baking time is 30 mins meaning that if you make a big batch you really will heading for a week of varied and delicious snack success!
When it comes to having a snack my aim is always to make sure it’s as nutritionally dense as possible. That means I want my snacks packed with vitamins, minerals, complex carbs, healthy fats as well as the all-important protein which is essential when it comes to helping keep hunger levels at bay throughout the day.
Today I’ve shared my flaxseed cracker recipe with you because not only is it one of the fastest recipes for an on the go snack, it’s also a recipe that you can modify and experiment with to create your very own perfect cracker (plus topping or dip). In today’s video I’ve created three versions of the flaxseed cracker and each version contains ingredients that will nourish you and help you achieve your health and fitness goals when combined with other nutritionally dense meals and snacks throughout the day (as well as exercise!)
Before you watch the video have a look below at some of the main health benefits of the ingredients that I’ll be using:
Flaxseeds
Raw Cacao Nibs + Cacao Powder
Hemp Seeds
Jumbo Organic Porridge Oats
I eat jumbo organic porridge oats every single day and they make me feel wonderful! Again, they’re highly nutritious, high in antioxidants and they really help me to have a good start to the day in terms of keeping my blood sugar levels on an even keel. Porridge oats are really filling and are slow to digest meaning that they help keep you feeling satisfied for longer. They’re antioxidant rich and great for your skin too.
I hope you enjoy the video! Don’t forget to set the video quality to 1080p or it might be very fuzzy! p.s Let me know if you come up with any other tasty flaxseed cracker versions.
