The Perfect Snack For On The Go – Charlie’s Flaxseed Cracker Recipe

Flaxseed Cracker

One of the questions I get asked the most when it comes to nutrition is: What are the best nutritious snacks for on the go?

This is a very broad question because there are absolutely endless lists of snack recipes that I could show you that would nourish your body, make you feel great and that would taste absolutely amazing. The problem is a large percentage of those recipes take a bit of time and effort, which when you can’t find five minutes for yourself results in a firm no to snack prepping and a tendency to reach for something that isn’t as nourishing or filling.

If you want a snack to just grab and go then look no further than the nutritious Flaxseed cracker! Prep time is 5 mins and baking time is 30 mins meaning that if you make a big batch you really will heading for a week of varied and delicious snack success!

When it comes to having a snack my aim is always to make sure it’s as nutritionally dense as possible. That means I want my snacks packed with vitamins, minerals, complex carbs, healthy fats as well as the all-important protein which is essential when it comes to helping keep hunger levels at bay throughout the day.

Today I’ve shared my flaxseed cracker recipe with you because not only is it one of the fastest recipes for an on the go snack, it’s also a recipe that you can modify and experiment with to create your very own perfect cracker (plus topping or dip). In today’s video I’ve created three versions of the flaxseed cracker and each version contains ingredients that will nourish you and help you achieve your health and fitness goals when combined with other nutritionally dense meals and snacks throughout the day (as well as exercise!)

Before you watch the video have a look below at some of the main health benefits of the ingredients that I’ll be using:

Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are loaded with nutrients. They’re high in fiber and are an excellent high quality source of plant protein. Flaxseeds are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and are great for improving your digestive health. Packed with vitamins, minerals and healthy fats and protein flaxseeds are an absolutely brilliant addition to your daily diet.

Raw Cacao Nibs + Cacao Powder

Now you’ll have to forgive my pronunciation of cacao because I’ve been told that I always pronounce it incorrectly. Regardless of how you say it it doesn’t take away from the fact that Cacao is like fairy dust! It’s magic! It has a subtle chocolatey taste but is packed with nutrients! Cacao has more antioxidants than blueberries; it’s low in sugar, high in fibre and helps promote feelings of fullness. It anti inflammatory properties and is great for immune health.Do I really need to sell this to you anymore? Go down to your local farm shop and pick some up today!

Hemp Seeds

Hemp seeds like all of the above are extremely nutrient rich. Can you believe that more than 25% of their total energy comes from protein? This is great news when adding hemp seeds to your flaxseed cracker mix! They’ve been used as a medicine for thousands of years and are still used today to help with things like menopause, PMS symptoms and skin disorders.

Jumbo Organic Porridge Oats

I eat jumbo organic porridge oats every single day and they make me feel wonderful! Again, they’re highly nutritious, high in antioxidants and they really help me to have a good start to the day in terms of keeping my blood sugar levels on an even keel. Porridge oats are really filling and are slow to digest meaning that they help keep you feeling satisfied for longer. They’re antioxidant rich and great for your skin too.

I hope you enjoy the video! Don’t forget to set the video quality to 1080p or it might be very fuzzy! p.s Let me know if you come up with any other tasty flaxseed cracker versions.
